Getting started
- Create and manage boards
From the main dashboard you can create boards, rename them, archive them, and open the editor.
- Infinite canvas
The editor uses an unbounded canvas: place images, text, strokes, and annotations freely.
- Toolbar
Side column (desktop) or bottom bar (mobile) with select, text, strokes, brush, shapes, and annotations.
- Interactive board tutorials
Step-by-step guides in the editor: initial board tour plus AI and client-mode tutorials with on-screen highlights.
Board navigation
- Pan and zoom
Explore large boards with cursor zoom, keyboard or space pan, and fit shortcuts.
- Navigate / edit mode
Switch between exploring without selecting and editing elements.
- Minimap
Thumbnail overview of the board to orient yourself and jump to other areas.
- Fit selection
Adjust zoom and position so the selection fills as much of the viewport as possible.
Creation tools
- Select
Select, move, and transform board elements.
- Text and typography
The Text dropdown (T) picks typography for text boxes; it does not insert elements on its own.
- Brush
Draw freehand strokes on the board with color, size, and opacity.
- Eraser
Remove brush strokes by dragging over them.
- Censor (pixelate)
Draw pixelated areas to hide sensitive information in screenshots.
- Closed polyline
Vertex-based stroke that closes into an outline.
- Open polyline
Vertex stroke that does not auto-close.
- Line
Straight segment between two points.
- Comment pin
Place pins with text to annotate specific board locations.
- Quick shapes
Insert arrows and icons from the shapes bar; number keys for common ones.
- Arrows and line styles
Place arrows by drag; change style (solid, dashed, technical, chevron) with selection active.
- Manual dimensions
Measurement annotation with two reference points, extension lines, dimension line, and editable label (e.g. “2400 mm” or “3.20 m”).
- Sticky note
Post-it style text block on the board.
- Checklist
Board element with checkable items.
- A4 document
Formatted page on the canvas, editable as a document.
- Spec sheet
Structured block for product or material data.
- Callout with leader line
Text balloon linked to a board point with a line.
- Section layouts
Insert preset compositions (hero, image+text, grid, highlight).
- Create and add images to the board
Step-by-step guide to bring references, renders, and photos onto the canvas: upload files, paste, favorites, shape fill, carousel, and AI composition.
- Image carousel
Frame with multiple images navigable with arrows.
Element editing
- Image crop
Crop a selected image with on-canvas handles.
- Copy, paste, and duplicate
Duplicate selection via shortcuts or Alt-drag.
- Delete selection
Remove selected elements from the board.
- Move selection (G mode)
Move selection precisely with a confirm click.
- Group and ungroup
Combine multiple elements or split an existing group.
- Lock elements
Prevent moving or transforming selection until unlocked.
- Align and distribute
Align or evenly space multiple selected elements.
- Floating bar styles
With an element selected, adjust color, opacity, stroke, and type-specific options.
- Palette and color schemes
Save colors, detect dominant palette from images, and insert swatch cards on the canvas.
Visual organization
- Board side panel
Right column in the editor: variants, snapshots, author layers, files, client feedback (if your plan includes it), saved views, and favorites. Drag the left edge to resize the panel.
- Canvas variants
Alternative proposal groups on the same board, with a quick bar, grid comparison, and editable descriptions.
- Board snapshots
Full board copies with a fullscreen gallery, real canvas capture, timeline, and per-version descriptions.
Collaboration & sharing
- Comment thread
On-canvas window for collaborator messages: avatar, name, body, and timestamp.
- Board collaboration
Several people can work on the same board: owner, email-invited collaborators, and link guests. Each contribution is tied to its author (color and layer). Changes are saved on the server; reopening or reloading the board shows the latest state.
- Who is on the board
In the editor top bar (people icon and avatars) you can open the list of who has access and their role. It includes the owner, invited collaborators, pending invites (owner only), and link guests.
- Share dialog
From the board side panel («Share board» button) or the equivalent control in the editor, open the «Share» dialog. If your plan includes collaboration and client review, the first screen shows two cards; if you only have one feature, you go straight into that path.
- Guest links (Links tab)
In Share → Share with collaborator → «Links» tab you get three public board URLs (/b/…), each with a different permission level. Each block shows the URL, a permission summary, last regenerated date, and Copy and Regenerate buttons.
- Invite collaborator by email
In Share → Share with collaborator → «Invite collaborator» tab you send email invites (comma-separated). Invitees sign in to Idear, accept the invite, and edit the board with contribute permissions (their own elements).
- Shared boards on dashboard
Boards you can access appear in your Boards list.
- Board notifications (email and Telegram)
Anyone following a board can get alerts by email and, with a registered account, Telegram. The board owner, collaborators with edit access, and certain guests can send updates to subscribers.
- Team voice notes (record and review)
Record on mobile or desktop, send audio to a board, and alert the team by email or Telegram. See the full flow infographic below.
- Team feedback (collaborators)
When several people work on a board, internal feedback lives on the canvas and in capture tools: it does not go through the client link or the client feedback bell.
Idear mobile
- Idear mobile (capture on site)
Phone-optimized experience: board list, capture hub (voice, photo, comment), and quick access to views and links without full canvas editing.
- Review mobile captures (inbox and place photos)
All captures (voice, comments, and inbox photos) are reviewed in one modal: on mobile from List; on desktop from the smartphone icon on the board.
- Mobile inbox ↔ canvas pins
Link inbox photos, comments, and voice notes to board comment pins: create new pins, link to existing ones, and close the loop with «Mark reviewed».
Presentation & review
- Presentation mode
Clean board view with a slide sidebar, floating tools, and keyboard navigation.
- Saved views
Save canvas zoom and position as named views that work as slides in presentation mode.
- Feedback flows: overview
Idear separates two feedback circuits that do not mix: team feedback (collaborators in the editor) and client feedback (review link /c/…). Each has its own tools, visibility, and management screens.
Advanced features
- Image comparator
Mark two images and open the before/after comparison modal; also available from presentation mode.
- Polls
Create polls with options on the board; selecting a poll on desktop opens a side results and voting HUD.
- AI inspirational moodboard
Generate a studio-style image from selection (≥2 sources) on the server.
- AI concept sheets (architecture, interior design & product)
Generate visual sheets from plans, renders and references: category, sheet types, layout, format, theme and AI credits shown before you confirm.
- AI visual floor plan
Turn a technical floor plan into a furnished material plan and/or conceptual furnished axonometric for client presentations.
- Insert person
Insert a hyperrealistic person into an architectural render. Normal mode: text instruction and optional photo. Advanced mode: required reference photo and placement, orientation and activity presets.
- Add vegetation
Enrich an architectural render with photorealistic vegetation consistent with the scene: trees, shrubs, garden, terrace plants or planters.
- Change material
Replace a material in a render zone. Normal mode: text instruction and optional material image. Advanced mode: reference photo, surface, scale and mask (ID pass or polygon) with 3D integration of shadows, reflections and perspective.
- Change object
Replace furniture, a lamp or another element in the render with a new object using a reference photo. AI returns the fully integrated image.
- Remove object
Remove a specific element from the render and reconstruct the background photorealistically. AI returns the full image without that object.
- Change style
Transform room decoration while keeping architecture, camera and framing intact.
- Redecorate scene
Complete and improve scene styling while keeping the layout, main furniture and architecture.
- Add AI background
Place cut-out architecture or product renders in a coherent photorealistic setting while preserving the main subject (house, faucet, furniture, vehicle…).
- Technical files
Attach DWG, ZIP, PDF as file, or other formats to the board.
- Export PDF
Export full board, selection, or A4 document to PDF.
Client mode
- Share with client (review link)
In Share → «Share with client» card (highlighted) you get a read-only review link. The client only sees elements marked visible; they can comment, react, or approve in the client view. The dialog shows how many elements are visible, the URL, and link actions.
- Client comments
The client leaves comments, reactions, or approvals from their review link; the team manages them in the editor.
- Client feedback in the side panel
If your plan includes client review, you can work feedback and decisions in the «Client feedback» section of the right side panel: comments, voice notes, reactions, statuses (open, in progress, done), and team replies. Includes a «Decision center» tab for formal approvals.
- Review image and markers
The review image is a canvas element the client opens fullscreen. They can leave markers with text, voice, and photos; the team sees them in the bell, side panel, and as golden overlays on the image in the editor.
- Client voice note
From the client review link, they can record audio with their phone or computer microphone without typing.
- Manage client feedback (team)
All feedback the client sends from their review link is centralized in the board editor. You can read it, jump to the referenced element, change status, reply for the team, and (as owner) delete entries.
- Client approval flow
Mark which elements need a client decision (approve, request changes, or defer). The client acts from their /c/… link; the team tracks status in the Decision center and on each element.
Keyboard shortcuts
- All keyboard shortcuts
Full list in the board panel (?) and in this section by category.
Account, plans & team
- Interface themes (Account)
In Account → profile, the «Board theme» section changes how the editor looks: canvas, bars, side panel, and UI chrome. Available themes: Dark, Light, Beige, Olive, Wine, and Coast. The choice is saved in this browser/device.
- Plans and billing
View your plan, board limits, and enabled features in Billing.
- Studio team
Manage members and invites on plans that support team.
