Create and add images to the board

What it is for

Build moodboards and visual presentations inside the infinite board.

How to use it

1. Open a board from Boards (/app) and enter the editor. Make sure you can edit (not in presentation mode or read-only view).
2. Drag one or more image files from your file manager and drop them on the canvas. Common formats: PNG, JPG/JPEG, WebP, GIF, SVG, AVIF, TIFF, EPS/PS. The image lands where you drop (or near the viewport center if the OS does not provide coordinates).
3. Paste with Ctrl/Cmd+V: screenshots, copied files, clipboard images, or direct image URLs (https://…/photo.jpg). If you paste HTML with a thumbnail, Idear tries to extract the image.
4. On desktop you can also drop files anywhere on the board. On mobile/tablet: switch to Edit mode in the bottom bar and tap the + button (insert image/file); pick a photo or file from the system picker.
5. Context menu (right-click or long-press) on empty canvas: paste image or open the file picker depending on context.
6. Side panel → Favorites: store selections or images you reuse and drag them back onto the board when needed.
7. After insert: select the image and use handles to resize; rotate from corners when enabled. Press C (without Ctrl) to crop with on-canvas handles.
8. Shape fill: create a rectangle or circle and drop the image onto the shape, or select the shape with an image in the clipboard and use “Paste image inside” in the context menu.
9. Multiple images: select two or more image elements and use the carousel flow for one frame with arrows (see “Image carousel” article).
10. AI composition (plans with moodboard AI): select at least two images or color swatches → purple AI icon on the floating toolbar → «AI moodboard» → confirm in the modal.
11. AI concept sheets (Pro/Studio): select plans, renders or references → purple AI icon on the floating toolbar → «AI sheet» → pick category, tags, format and sheet types (see «AI concept sheets» article).
12. Image comments: with an image selected you can enable comment threads or client pins depending on your plan’s review mode.

Tips

• Approximate limit per image: 10 MB after automatic client-side compression. DWG, ZIP, or other technical files are not images—attach them as technical files (“Technical files” article).
• If the image does not appear, check format, size, and that you have edit access on the board.
